frei-raum.berlin and Cem Çakmak (TR) presents ambient Tuesday, an evening of live ambient electronic music paired with real-time visuals. Engaging performances from Matthew D. Gantt (US), who blends 3D visuals with electronic soundscapes; Mike Nigro (US), reworking ambient tracks with live improvisation; and Cem Çakmak (TR), creating abstract ambient music using custom algorithms. Visual artist Evan Henry (US) will accompany the performances with evolving live visuals.

Cem Çakmak (TR)

Cem Çakmak is a Berlin-based sound artist originally from Istanbul. Since 2013, he has performed at both festivals and major concert venues like EMPAC, Contemporary Istanbul and the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival. His work focuses on spatial music, using computer-assisted techniques blending probability and improvisation. Cem has a background in engineering and holds a PhD in Electronic Arts, with research published in journals like the Journal of the Audio Engineering Society.

Matthew D. Gantt (US)
Matthew D. Gantt is an artist, composer, and educator based in Troy, NY. His work focuses on sound in virtual spaces, using digital tools and generative systems. Gantt has collaborated with electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick and has performed at venues like Pioneer Works and IRCAM. He also releases music through Orange Milk and Oxtail Recordings and teaches experimental composition at institutions like Bard College and CUNY Brooklyn.

Mike Nigro (US)
Mike Nigro is an electronic musician and label operator currently based in Sydney, Australia. His music draws on 70s experimental and ambient styles, creating a blend of musicality and noise. Nigro has released music through labels like Constellation Tatsu and his own Oxtail Recordings. His work often explores the contrast between movement and stillness, and his label is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with events across multiple countries.

Evan Henry is a visual artist who started in photography and moved into live video art. Using analog electronics and digital tools, Henry creates abstract, evolving visuals that complement live music. He has performed across the US and Europe and has worked with artists like Steve Hauschildt of Ghostly International. Based in Berlin, his work continues to push the boundaries of live visual performance.
